The Lotus Tree Spotlight!

When we first met Jamie she won our hearts with her determination and sweet smile. Jamie was 6 when a lesion on her basal ganglia resulted in left hemiparesis. Until Jamie was 5 years old she was healthy and well. After October of 2007 she was noted to have a subacute onset of left-sided weakness involving her left leg, then arm, and then a facial droop. The droop has recovered, but she still has restricted movement of her left arm and limited upper and lower extremity strength.

After a few months of Occupational and Physical therapy at The Lotus Tree Jamie’s motor planning and sequencing have improved notably. She is gripping, releasing and holding her own weight as she climbs the ladder to our zip line platform and then holding tight to then release and land in the crash pit!
